Every year thousands of tourists enter the Durbar Square to view the various pilgrimages of the Hindus. The Patan Durbar Square is home to many temples like Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Vishwanath Temple, Taleju Bhawani Temple and more. Patan Durbar Square is an important pilgrimage to both the Buddhists and Hindus. 

About Patan 

Patan City is an ancient Newari city which is located in the south-central part of Kathmandu Valley. Modernly called Lalitpur, it is the third largest city of Nepal. Patan is home to the fascinating Patan Durbar Square which was built by many Malla, Rana, and Shah Rulers over the period of centuries. 

The tour

The tour begins after breakfast, early in the morning. You can take a private car or a public vehicle to reach Patan city. A short walk from the bus station will leads you to the Patan Durbar Square. The tour around the Durbar Square is estimated to take around 4 hours. 

The Patan Durbar square area also has coffee shops and souvenir shops. You can then head back to your respective destination after sight-seeing. 

The Scenery

Patan Durbar Square offers a wide view of the ancient architectures of the Newari people. The various rulers of Patan have kept the culture alive by building various monuments and status around th area in the name of kings, gods, and goddesses. 

The Patan Durbar square has 136 courtyards and 55 temples. The Krishna Temple is regarded as the most important pilgrimage for Hindus in this area. It is built in name of Lord Krishna who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple has statues of Lord Krishna, SrimatiRadha, Lord Shiva and Lord Buddha. 

The Bhimsen Temple built in 1680 by Srinivas Malla is known best for its three golden windows, although, tourists are not allowed in the temple. The Taleju Bhawani temple, built in 1960 by Siddhi Nar Singh Malla is famous for being the five story temple with triple roofs. 

To the north of the palace is Keshav Narayan Chowk while to the center is Mul Chowk which holds the Vidya Temple and Taleju Bhawani Temple. The Sundari Chowk on the south is guarded by statues of Hanuman and Ganesh in its entrance. The Patan Durbar Square is any tourist’s or pilgrim’s delight.
