Trekking to the base of the world’s highest mountain the Mount Everest is not only epic but also gives you the sense of achievement. The entire trail from Jiri to Everest Base Camp is packed with cultural and natural beauties that are rare in the entire world. Jiri is not like any other place in Nepal, it is indeed regarded as the most beautiful place in all of the country. This very route has been attracting many tourists simply because it is amazing. The luminous hills along with unchartered lands have made Jiri to Everest Base Camp one of the sought out trails to reach EBC.
The picture-perfect views of Himalayas, diverse floras and faunas and not to forget the culturally rich people has made the Jiri to Everest Base Camp a totally worthy trek. It is definitely an iconic feast to the avid trekkers.
Apart from the close up majestic view of mighty Everest, other highlights of Jiri to Everest Base Camp would include warmth of Sherpa culture in Junbesi, monastery in ThubtenChholing and the like. Jiri to EBC is also special because it follows the original route to Solukhumbu region which has been used by the early Everest rovers. The highest peaks in the world including Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m) and countless others await you in this exquisite Jiri to Everest Base camp trek.
As we will be trekking as high as 5,545m acclimatization plays an important role here. This is a moderate trek and requires large stamina and physical condition. Prior trekking experience can become an asset for you.
You will arrive in Kathmandu via Tribhuvan International Airport. Upon the arrival, our guest representative will transfer you to the hotel. Rest your luggage and there will be short briefing session about the trek. The evening you can roam around the city and later enjoy the nightlife in Thamel. No meals included.
Before starting our trek, we take this day to enjoy various cultural and historic site inside the Kathmandu valley including Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, etc. You will get a glimpse why Kathmandu is known as the cultural hub of Nepal with all the unique cultural masterpieces, temples and diversity in people. Reach hotel and get packing for the next day. No meals included.
Early morning breakfast and we drive to Jiri. The road is well constructed and the view of the distant mountains like Ganesh Himal and LangtangLirung keeps you company. We drive alongside the river with the view of the green hills and countrysides. Reaching Jiri, we admire the awesome view and the greenery in the area. Jiri is also known as the most beautiful places in Nepal and you will get to know why. From Jiri it’s a short plesant walk to Shivalaya
It’s a start climb to Sangdabanda. From there we further trek uphill through the forest and reach Deurali (2,700m). From here, we can see the entire Bhandar region along wide several other local Sherpa villages. Descend through the hills and we reach Bhandar. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
The trail takes us through the field and deep forests. The walk is rather easy despite some occasional ups and downs. We will descend down to Kenja- a small Sherpa village and rest for a while. Then, from there its an uphill climb to Lamjura pass. Crossing Chimbu(2,140m) we reach Sete. 7 hourso f walk BLD included.
We reach the Lamjura Pass(3,530m) this day. The trail leads us through the Rhododendron, birch and magnolia forest with the view of the eastern Himalayas. From the pass it’s a steep uphill climb. As we walk we will see various mani walls and prayer flags on our way. Reach Junbesi and stay overnight at a lodge. 7 hours of walk. BLD included.
Junbesi is a beautiful village with lots of viewpoints. We can also visit the Buddhist monasteries in the area.Opposite to Jubesikhola, there is ThubtenCholing monastery- one of the largest monasteries in the area. The view of the Number Himal, as well as several other Himalayas, is eye pleasing. BLD included.
The trail takes us alongside the Junbesi river and RimgoKhola. As we trek through the hills we will cross a long suspension bridge taking us over to Ringmo village. Takshindo La (3,071m) is a pass that we will come across this day. Through the Rhododendron forest, we reach the village of Nunthala. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
Initially, the trail goes down to the DudhKoshi river. The suspension bridges takes us over the river. We ascend to the village of Jubing to stop by for lunch. Through the hillsides we make a slight ascend and again make a steep climb to our destination – Bupsa. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
Through the ridges we will enjoy the view of Mt. Cho Oyu (8,210m) and Mt. Khumbila. The trail leads us deep into the canyon of PaiyaKhola. From there we walk alongside the DudhKoshi river and climbing a long stone staircase we rich ChauriKharka with the green meadows all around. Through the DudhKoshi valley we reach the village of Ghat. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
It’s a gradual ascent through the pine forest. Walking alongside the DudhKoshi river we will pass various Sherpa villages along the way. After a long walk we will cross the Tenzing – Hilary suspension bridge over the DudhKhosi river and reach outskirts of Namche with the view of the Mt. Everest. We ascend through the pine forests and reach Namche Bazaar- the gateway to Everest. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
It is very important to separate this day for acclimatization since then we are gaining height. The mountain sickness is rampant if we don’t get accustomed to this rising altitude. However, we don’t sit around our lodge. The view from the place is just awesome. We can visit the viewpoints in the area or interact with the friendly villages. Another alternative is to hike to Khumjung – a small Sherpa village with the view of the mountains.
With the view of the eastern Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Amadablam we trek through the rocky trails. Descending down to the DudhKoshi river we have to cross the long suspension bridge. Then it’s the uphill trek through the pine and juniper forests to Tengboche. You can visit the Tengboche Monastery and enjoy the sight of the Khumbu region.
It’s a tough walk. We pass through various Sherpa villages and walk alongside the ImjaKhola. Then, it’s a grdual climb to Pangboche. The view of the mountains grows bigger. As we get nearer to Dingboche, the path opens up with terraced farmland. Along the way we can find many mani walls and chortens of significant religious importance.
The trail takes us up the ridge until we reach Dhukla (4,620m). The pastures in the area looks beautiful with the mountains as a white backdrop. Further ascending through the rocky trails we reach Lobuche our stop for the night. The sunset looks mesmerizing as the mountains bathe in warm colors in the horizon. 5 hours of walk.
This day we finally get to visit the base camp to the highest mountain in the world. The trail is rocky and steep with the view of the eastern Himalayas. Reaching Gorakshep we rest for a while and continue to Everest Base camp (5,364m). The base camp provides panoramic view of the entire Khumbu region which deserves best pictures. Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse and other mountains stand at their full might. Enjoy the magnificent beauty and fall back to GorakShep where we stay overnight. 8 hours of walk. BLD Included
This might be the hardest day of the trek. The rocky trail takes us up the famous Kala Patthar (5,545m) the highest point of the trek and perhaps, the most beautiful one. The view of the Mt. Everest is absolutely majestic. Then entire Everest Massif is visible from atop this hill. After some ewl deserved pictures, we fall back and reach Pheriche. 8 hours of walk. BLD included.
Early morning breakfast and we continue our trek downhills through various Sherpa villages. Along the way we can stop by at the Pangboche monastery – the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region. The trail is filled with the availability of wide variety of wildlife like Musk deer, mountain goat and mountain Pheasant. We reach Phortse and stay overnight at a lodge. 5 hours of walk.
We lose altitude quickly as we descend through the rocky landscapes. The trail is wider and as we descend down to the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park we leave the mountains behind. Passing Jorsalle we reach our destination for the day- Monjo. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
This is the last day of the trek. The path leads us down to Phakding. We cross the suspension bridge over the ThadoKoshi river and pass through various Sherpa settlement. Before reaching Lukla, we have to do a last uphill stretch. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.
It’s the morning flight to Kathmandu. The view from the airplane looks glamorous as we can see the entire Khumbu region from up there. Reaching Kathmandu, you rest your luggage and take a nice bath. The rest of the day you can have to yourself. Enjoy the city and as the night falls, Thamel becomes a sparkling city with exquisite nightlife. 40 minutes of flight. Breakfast included.
Depending on the time of your flight, our representative will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport where you will wait for your flight back home.
