Additional Information

There is no answer to the best time to visit the Gokyo Lake trek. The Gokyo Lake trekking will be more comfortable, with clear skies and mild temperatures.

It depends on the pleasant weather condition, which is autumn and spring. However, the winter and monsoon seasons also offer various attractions during the Gokyo Lake trek.

Spring Season

Spring Season is excellent for the Gokyo Lakes trek as the temperature is mild, and the flowers and vegetation are in full bloom, adding to the beauty of the trail.

The season starts from the March-May when the daytime temperature ranges from 12°C to 20°C with dry and sunny conditions. Besides, mild rainfall can disturb the weather with a bit of a cold breeze.

While the trail is less steep, beautiful flowers blooming throughout will make your trekking even more fun and exciting. However, the course is a bit crowded as it is the peak season for trekking, so you will encounter different mountaineers and trekkers.

Autumn Season

Autumn is also one of the popular seasons for trekking, where the skies are clear and the temperature is pleasant. The days are warm with no rain, and the excellent visibility offers stunning views of the mountains and lakes.

The autumn season starts in September and lasts until November. The daytime temperature ranges from 9°C to 13°C, with the average day remaining dry and sunny. However, the weather may get colder with the occasional rain or snowfall. It's good to pack layers and prepare for weather changes.

Summer Season

The summer season in Gokyo Lake starts in June and lasts until August, with weather relatively stable and the skies clear. Besides, it also offers excellent visibility of beautiful mountain ranges and stunning Gokyo Lakes.

The average temperature during the daytime is 15°C to 20°C, ideal for trekking. However, the temperature can increase, becoming hot as the day progresses.

The weather is pleasant, but the occasional weather fluctuation will be a problem, so prepare for it.

Monsoon Season

The monsoon season in the Gokyo lakes can be challenging as the trails become slippery and muddy, making walking difficult. Besides, the weather can be unpredictable and there is a high chance of rainfall in the daytime.

The season starts in June and lasts until late September, with the daytime temperature ranging from 10°C to 15°C. The valleys and hills become lush and green, and the waterfalls and rivers fully flow, creating a scenic view and serene atmosphere.

Moreover, there are fewer tourists during this time, and accommodations and services are often cheaper.

Great Service: Flights and Trek to EBC + Gokyo Ri I used Himalayan Partner Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. to coordinate flights and a guide for Everest Base Camp (EBC) and Gokyo Ri pass. Mr. Ghan Amgain was excellent and he exceeded all of my expectations. While I was waiting for a flight to begin my trek, Mr. Amgain found me an earlier flight by coordinating directly with the airline company even though flights had been booked up the week before. Mr. Amgain knew that it was one of my dream... See more s to see Everest Base Camp and he moved up my flight to avoid being stranded in Kathmandu due to weather. The guide who led my group to EBC and Gokyo Ri was professional, patient and knowledgeable. I felt good about investing my money into a guide and this company because my investment was directly supporting Nepali local businesses. Highly recommend! See less...
