About Chandragiri

Chandragiri Hill proves a mesmerizing view of the hills and Himalayas surrounding the area and also the valley down below. The Chandragiri Jungle has a sub-tropical zone ranging from 1000-2275 meters.

The Route

The hike takes about a day and is best for all four seasons except the monsoon season due to the rugged and slippery roads due to heavy rainfall. The hike takes approximately 6 to 7 hours of walking. Beginning from Thankot at the time of 7 am, the route leads to Matatirtha.

Then the route takes to the Chaap Bhanjyang which is elevated at the height of 2275m . The route leads to a 3 hour steep climb towards Chhap Bhanjhyang. After lunch, the hike continues and leads to the Chandragiri hills.

After getting an immaculate and rewarding view of the hills and mountains, the route leads back to your destination. It is regarded as one of the easiest routes which lies on the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley.

The Scenery

From views of the high standing Everest in the east to the picturesque Dhaulagiri in the west, Chandragiri offers a remarkable view of the milky white Himalayas stretching across the valley. One gets to observe the culturally diverse small villages along the way. The villagers are known to be particular warm and inviting.

All along the trail, one can experience the lush forest surrounding the area and the chirping of the birds. Some of the birds that can be viewed include Indian Pond Heron, Spotted Dove, Red-vented Bulbul, Great Egret, and more.
