The Route

The mountain biking from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel passing through Namo Buddha starts from the mesmerizing hill of Nagarkot. You move downhill after having breakfast and enter Nala. Along the way, various Newari Villages can be observed. Then when you reach downhill you get a glimpse of the Chettri and Brahman community working on the vast farmlands. Then you take the dirt route towards Namo Buddha. We descend to small hills along the way and final y reach the holy Buddhist site of Namo Buddha. The Namo Buddha monastery lies at an elevation of 1750 meter above the sea level.

There are various mountain ranges like Mt. Everest, Ganesh Himal and GauriShankerHimal that can be viewed from the top of the hill at Nagarkot if the weather condition is good. Also, the most fascinating and popular sunrise from Nagarkot can be viewed right in the morning. Namo Buddha which is a culturally and religiously significant place of worship for the Buddhist community is home to the Buddhist monasteries. Stone sculptures of Buddha are seen in the stupa. Namo Buddha is where it is believed that Buddha gave up his body. Also, the stupa has a stone sculpture of Mahasattva, who is an incarnation of Buddha. The excellent architecture that the Buddhist community has to offer can be visible through the golden roof of Namobuddha Monastery.
