The journey to the Lower Manaslu brings us closer to the symphony of the mother nature. In this epic journey, we will witness some of the most exquisite view of the Manaslu range while getting acquainted with the unique and welcoming villages on the way. The Lower Manaslu trek amalgamates the view of the nature with the cultural and historical importance of the land of Gorkha as well as Barpak and Bungkot.

The Lower Manaslu Trek is a moderate trek which is perfect for the novice trekkers. With all the diversity in the nature and culture, this can be a perfect start for the aspiring trekkers as well. The view of the majestic snow clad giants is something to look out for. From the eighth highest peak – Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) to the Annapurna range, this trek has a lot to show for. Mix that up with the excellent blend of green landscape and it becomes a natural blessing.

We start off this trek by driving to Ghairung. Moving to Gorkha Bazaar, we stop by to look at the historic importance of this city. Gorkha is home to the late king Prithvi Narayan Shah who unified our country into a greater Nepal. This trek takes us from one village to next, each as beautiful and unique as the other. Not only the mountains, hills and villages but Lower Manaslu treks takes us to the religious sites in the Kathmandu Valley that has been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

As you dive in the serenity of the nature, you will be bombarded by the beauty of the land and the cultural diversity of the people.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

    The journey starts here. You will arrive in the capital city of Nepal – Kathmandu via Tribhuvan International Airport. Our guest representative will pick you up at the private vehicle and drop you at your hotel. Take some rest, freshen up and roam around the bustling city of Kathmandu. You can also enjoy the eccentric lifestyle in Thamel and take a pick of the local cuisine in the town. No meals included.

  • Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu.

    The capital city is filled with places that is worth a visit. Since, our time is limited, we will visit only few of them. This includes the holy temple of Pashupatinath, the monkey temple of Swoyambhunath and Boudhanath- the largest stupa in the world. Another historically importance place that appears on our list is the Kathmandu Durbar Square- the palace of the Kings. After we reach back at our hotel, we will get packing for the next day.   • Day 03: Kathmandu – Ghairung (1,090m)

    Its an early morning drive to the holy Manakamana temple. The long drive feels much shorter as we enjoy the beautiful hills and white rivers from the window. Reaching Kuringtar we take the cable car to the Manakamana. After paying our respect to the gods, we commence our trek. We descend the steep hills with the view of the Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu and Lamjung himal at the distance. Passing few villages, we reach Ghairung. Since there are no lodges, we have to stay at the local house. 3 hours of drive. 4 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 04: Ghairung – Gorkha Bazaar (1,000m)

    We take breakfast in Ghairung. The trail descends to the village of Bungkot. This place has some historical importance being the birthplace of Lakhan Thapa - Nepal’s first martyr. From here, we walk through the plain land. This will be a pleasant walk as we enjoy with the view of the great mountains in the horizon and greenery of the surrounding landscape. We reach Gorkha bazaar- the headquarter of Gorkha district. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 05: Excursion in Gorkha Bazaar

    Gorkha is a historically rich place. This day, we visit the royal palace of the Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah. There are other attractions including the Gorakhnath cave that is located below the palace. Similarly, there is a museum in the area where we can see the possessions of the late king including the statues, arts, coins and others stuffs. From the area, the mountains look amazing and the green landscape blends well with the natures. Take some nice pictures. BLD included.

  • Day 06: Gorkha Bazaar – Siran danda (1,900m)

    After our breakfast, we take a jeep up to Bhackek. The trail is rocky and winding as we move alongside Daraundi river. Reaching Bachek village we continue trekking. It’s an easy trek uphill to Sirandana. The Manaslu range looks majestic from the area. We stay at a local’s house. 5 hours of drive. 2 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 07: Siran Danda – Barpak Village (1,920m)

    The trails are much easier with occasionally rocky steps. Heading northeast we reach Mathar village (1,790m). Continuing we will reach Ghyachowk and stop by for lunch. Then it’s another stretch with the view of the great mountain range and the beautiful hills until we reach Barpark- home to the legend – Late Captain Gaje Ghale who received Victoria Cross medal for his exceptional career. 7 hours of walk.   • Day 08: Barpark village – Laprak (2,100m)

    Early morning breakfast and we will witness the blissful sunrise along with the great Mt. Manaslu. Then we trek through the rocky trails. Reaching Basukang we can enjoy the admirable landscape as it leads to one of the passes in the lower Manaslu region – The Rupina La (2,100m). A slight uphill climb and we reach Laprak village where we stay for the night. The village itself has wooden roofed houses and the view of the green hills is bestowing. 6 hours of walk.   • Day 09: Laprak – Namabai Kharka (2,700m)

    It’s a gradual ascend to Namabai Kharka. The trail is rocky at first but then substituted by herbs and shrubs. Namabai Kharka is a pasture land so you can expect a lot of cattle’s grazing and open grassland. The view is awesome, however, the place is degraded with lack of proper toilet facilities. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 10: Hike to Dharche Danda – Tallo Thotneri

    We wake up early and hike to Dharche Danda (3,220m)- the highest point of the trek. The hills show for the magnificent view of the 20 something mountains that can be seen from the area- including the entire Annapurna range, Buddha Himal, Sringi Himal, Ganesh Range and others. There are many prayer flags and prayer stones in the area which is the symbol of the cultural and religious importance of the Dharche Danda. We, then move back to Namabai Kharka and reach Tallo Thotneri. 7 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 11: Tallo Thotneri – Ghyampesal

    After a slight descent we reach Sita cave(1,165m). The cave is surrounded by the dense forest and is popular among the tourist. This cave has religion importance related to the Hindu god Ram and Sita. After visiting the cave, we trek downhill and reach Ghyampesal – our destination of the day. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.

  • Day 12: Ghyampesal – Kathmandu

    We take our breakfast in the hotel and drive to Gorkha Bazaar. From there, we will drive back to Kathmandu. Once you get back to the hotel, you can freshen up and enjoy the city. There’s lot to look around. The temples, people and the shops are all unique experience. At the night, enjoy the eccentric nightlife at Thamel. Breakfast included.

  • Day 13: Departure

    This epic journey has come to an end. You will be dropped off at the Tribhuvan International Airport by our representative. There, you might have to wait few hours for your flight’s departure.
