About Jamacho

Protected by the Nepalese Army, the ShivapuriNagarjun National Park is home to a wide range of flora and founa. Most hikers walk the trail to enter towards the Jamacho monastery which is a pilgrimage to Buddhist. The Buddhist religion is beautifully displayed in the hill top of Nagarjun.

The Route

The entire Jamcho hike takes about 2-3 hours in a distance of 3 km. A drive from your destination to the gates of the Shivapuri National Park in the morning will begin the Jamacho hike. The ShivapuriNagarjun National Park which was open in 2002 has been protected by the government of Nepal and sits around the army territory. Entering the Buddhist shrine, the Jamacho monastery provides a clear view of Kathmandu city and the dominant Swayambunath Temple also called the Monkey Temple. The route then leads back to your respective destination.
